Homestead, a portion of the Newhall Ranch Master Plan, is an approximately 2,800-acre community in northwest Los Angeles County. For this project, Hunsaker & Associates-Los Angeles is preparing and processing one of the largest tentative tract maps in the history of Los Angeles County. The community includes 5,400 units, a 1.3-million square-foot business park; a fire station; a wastewater reclamation plant; flood control facilities; three parks; elementary, middle and high schools; and a variety of active and passive open spaces.
There are a number of complexities in this project, such as hillside development, the existence of a floodway/floodplain, geotechnical constraints, State Route 126 adjacency, oil wells, endangered species habitat, oak trees, and a system of major and secondary arterial roadways.
